    CASS was founded in 1981 and registered both as a community advancement co-operative society and a non-profit charity.
    
    The objectives of CASS include the provision of community and welfare services to the community, assistance to Chinese-speaking people to settle and integrate into the Australian society, fostering of mutual understanding and co-operation between the Chinese Australians and other Australians through multicultural activities, and the promotion of Chinese culture.
